Fire Hydrant Painting By The Public

posted Dec 23, 2020, 8:16 AM by Jason Todd   [ updated Dec 23, 2020, 8:18 AM ]
We have noticed that members of the public have undertaken an effort to beautify Saint David by repainting our fire hydrants. We recognize the effort and cost that was put forth to do this. Unfortunately, the fire district will have to repaint the hydrants to their correct colors. The tops and caps of hydrants in Saint David are colored based on their water flow rates. By painting them alternate colors, it is impossible for responding agencies to quickly choose an appropriate hydrant in an emergency.

We appreciate the desire to beautify Saint David by painting hydrants, however it’s vital that it be done with coordination. If you would like to approach the district about beautifying our hydrants, please contact the board clerk, Debbie Kaiser at (520) 686-0454 or and request to be put on the agenda for the next meeting. Please provide a description of how you would like to paint the hydrants while keeping the top and cap colors correct. You will also have to describe how you will ensure that the hydrant numbers will be clearly visible.
